Putting indigenous foods and food systems at the heart of sustainable food and nutrition security in Uganda
This discussion paper documents the status, and importance of indigenous food systems in Uganda and confirms that a loss of diverse fruits, vegetables, and legumes, through an increase in monocultures has heightened vulnerabilities to pests and diseases. The study states that while some national policy documents recognize the need to conserve, produce and consume indigenous foods, much more is needed to implement these policies at local and national levels.
